Industrial designer
Reporting to the Technical Director, the Industrial Designer plays a key role in developing and maintaining the visual identity of automated recovery products, ensuring their consistency with the visual identity and strategy of the TOMRA Technologie portfolio. He/she works closely with engineering teams to transform functional prototypes into manufacturable, aesthetic and intuitive products. Through a user-centered approach and interdisciplinary assessments, he/she contributes to the creation of internationally recognized, quality solutions that reflect the excellence of the Center of Expertise.
Monday to Friday / Located in Baie-d'Urfé / 37.5 hours per week / Starting at $65,000.00 per year
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the global design strategy for TOMRA Canada products, integrating it into the development and specification phases of new projects;
- Design and update product visual identities and user interfaces, ensuring consistency with the brand image;
- Supervise the detailed design of exterior components to ensure a balance between aesthetics, ergonomics and technical feasibility;
- Define product aesthetics (shapes, colors, materials, finishes) to deliver an optimal user experience in line with quality standards;
- Integrate industrial design and user experience methods and tools in line with industry best practices;
- Work closely with R&D, production and marketing teams to ensure product consistency, performance and efficient industrialization.
Requirements
- University diploma in industrial design;
- Over 5 years' experience in a variety of manufacturing environments;
- Excellent command of industrial design principles, product visual identity and design processes;
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes, mechanical assembly and welded structures;
- Prototyping skills and a good understanding of technical and production constraints;
- Proficiency in 3D software (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo, etc.) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Good knowledge of 2D visual design tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign);
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, rigor and autonomy.
- Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written (enabling fluid communication with teams worldwide).
